We got a new doggie on Saturday and the Super adoption. We went there just kinda looking around. The boys were determined to get a puppy from a neighbor of ours, and we did not want a puppy. At the adoption we saw a lot of little cute dogs that we would have liked, but weren't ours. (You know when you see the right dog, cat, couch, or anything like that.) We walked around a little more and saw this little Jack Russel. We took her out and walked her around and she was a very nice little thing! We got her. They spayed her for us and we got to pick her up on Sunday. We didn't tell the kids where we were going so she was quite the surprise for them! We have had her now for 3 days. For these days she has been a little doped up still, and not quite herself. She still hurts so she's on pain meds and she still is having trouble with stairs. Those things should clear up within a few days though.
By watching her I have found out somethings about her previous owners. They got her and made her their pretty little princess! They fed her soft food and did not socialize her with other dogs. She was not around kids too much either. This will be her life from now on. Kids are everywhere, she is getting used to this idea, and is slowly trying to play. Soft food is only for people. Dogs eat hard food! You ask how I know she was only fed soft food? Well while at my friend Jill's house today Bella started to chew on a rawhide treat. Her gums started to bleed. She will be fed soft food mixed with hard until she is weened from the soft. I'm thinking of getter her a toothbrush to strengthen her gums faster. She is living in a house that already had a dog and a cat, get used to it!
We will be training her for a bit, she is already house broken so I don't have to do that (thank goodness!). We are also kennel training her. I don't like dogs running around the house at night or sleeping on the beds, they sleep in kennels at our house. She will be a very good dog in about 2 weeks or a bit longer. She just needs to get used to us! I will post pics later, I just didn't feel like hooking the camera up to the computer right now. I'm lazy I know.
