Just venting

I read these articles that have these women that are either victims or playing the victim. These articles are about mormon women. They listened to some bad advice given to them by a bishop or someother athority figure in the church. After the thing turns out bad the women sit here and talk about how the church teaches women to be submissive. I don't know what kind of leaders they have grown up with, but I was never taught to just take it and not ask questions. I was always taught that we ALL have our own minds and free will. I was never told that it is a womens roll to get married, have kids, stay home and raise the kids, and do nothing else with my life. I was always told that it is good to be a good wife and mother, but don't be JUST that. I was told that I should lift myself up with knowledge. To be what I want to be. To choose for myself and not be told what to do. I really hate that these weak women get into the news media more often than the women that are really doing things that are wonderful.

I know that staying home with my children will help them along their way, and make them better people, but I am going to school. I want to be the type of women that can take care of herself. I do not want to be submissive to anyone, I don't want to be seen as that either.

I realize that these women that are saying that we are taught to be submissive are just looking for someone to blame. It's hard to blame yourself for taking the wrong advice. That's how it's going these days though. Don't blame yourself, blame someone else. That's what seems to be going on lately. It makes me sad. I hope that I can raise my kids to follow my example and go to school, no matter how long it takes, finish.
