Sunburn

On Saturday's we find that it is a good day to get all the household chores done. We are all home and for some reason we are awake at 8. (someday I hope to sleep in a little more.) This Saturday was no different. We got up and got started. Aaron cleans the bathroom, because I hate it. I clean the kitchen and the boys 'clean' their room and the living room. I usually end up doing the rest of the living room as well though. Well this Saturday instead of just doing the kitchen like usual I scrubbed the floor and the walls and the fridge and the walls in the living room and hallway. (with 3 boys the doorways and walls were in dire need of scrubbing.) I also started registering for school too! When all the scrubbing was done we moved a freezer into our basement. Ok so I didn't help much with that, I cheered Aaron on.

With all this done I decided that I should weed my garden, since I hadn't yet. I walked around the house looking for the sunscreen that I had recently had in my hand, but couldn't find it anywhere! Not in the kitchen, or the living room, or the bathroom, or under the couch. (I think it may be in a secret hiding place that only Isaac knows.) So I said 'oh well' and went out anyway in my shorts to go weed. Most people reading this blog are from Bountiful or at least Davis County where the dirt is soft and really dark in color. Well, here in Tooele the dirt is hard, clay like in some places, and not as dark. Instead of just being able to pick the weeds or lightly use the shovel, I had to dig down hard to get the weeds. I loosened the dirt, took out the dead plants, and replaced them with new seeds. I did this all on my knees with out knee pads (which was a mistake). When I was finally done I got up and scraped the dirt off of my knees and came in to shower. I thought I had a small sunburn on the back of my legs then, but I didn't think is was too bad. I mean I was sitting on my knees alot with my bum on my legs, how bad could it be. By the time we got to a friends house for a bbq my legs were red. Then the next day when I got up to walk and get ready for church I could hardly stand up. One leg was really bad and the other wasn't as bad. With coatings of aloe and lotion accompanied by IBprofin I was able to make it to the family bbq at Aaron's mom's house. Sitting in the grass there was a mistake because when we got home my legs were very dirty. The aloe makes everything stick to your skin. So while Aaron went to get me some vinegar, I took a quick shower to wash the dirt off me.

Now I sit here, my legs still hurting, but doing better than before thanks to vinegar and aloe, and I am glad I bought some sunscreen again so that I won't have to do this again. I would take a pic and show you, but all I have is my film camera. I hope to get another digital one soon. Just take my word for it that is a funny shaped farmers burn on the back of my legs and it looks bad. :)
